Our main full day in Northern Ireland we wanted to go see Giant’s Causeway: 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, and the result of an ancient volcanic eruption.
Also known as “The eighth wonder of the world.”
With little time and no transportation, we went with McComb’s Coach Tours; 5 star rated day company tour.
The first stop of the day was at the Carrickfergus Castle and Carrick-a-rede-Ropebridge.
WARNING: When crossing and if afraid of heights: Don’t look down
From there we moved on to Ireland’s oldest whiskey and distillery: Bushmills.
Here we enjoyed some locally made lunch, along with a shot of the famous tipple.
With our bellies full and feeling warm from the whiskey, the adventure on the bus continued to the main event and highlight of the day: Giant’s Causeway
There we got to spend time climbing over ancient stones and roaming and exploring across the untamed landscape.
Insider tip with this day tour: Wear comfortable footwear and clothing that is suitable for the season! For us it was cold and rainy, so warm hiking shoes/boots, hat, gloves, and a warm coat was a must!
This was a very helpful post, Carly! I’ll definitely look into this when I go to Belfast!
