If you know me, I’m always on the lookout for catching the next sunrise and sunset any chance I get.

If you have been to San Diego, or are planning a trip there soon, and have not watched the sunset at Sunset Cliffs, make sure to add it to your to do list/your next trip out there! At two years of flying, I can now hold long San Diego layovers! And spent the evening on my most recent layover taking in a sunset at Sunset Cliffs.

A neighborhood in the Point Loma community of San Diego, the area is named for the sheer cliffs that border the ocean. Spend an afternoon walking around the area, taking in views of the crashing waves, enjoy a picnic with friends and loved ones, and make sure to head out there to watch the sun fade down into the ocean.

Get there an hour early or so to walk around, and grab a great spot to sit and watch. Witness some surfers going out to catch their final waves of the day, listen and take in the sea breeze, and fully immerse and enjoy the moment. Sunset music tunes are also always a good idea, along with enjoying a glass of wine, water, or post hike brew.

There truly is something about watching a sunset. A beautiful way to end the day, and I believe that sunshine truly is the best medicine. Next time you’re in San Diego, make sure to catch a sun set at Sunset Cliffs.
