Most times, last minute plans are the best plans of all!

It’s late Thursday night and I get a call from my brother and cousin asking what my plans for the weekend were. I was currently on a work trip, but would be done late Friday night. They would be in Chicago for the weekend, and invited me to tag along with on the fun.

Next thing I know, I get home from work, and I’m quickly repacking my bags, taking a 5 hour cat nap, and hop on the early morning flight to Chicago the next morning! Here’s to Team No Sleep!

They picked me up from the airport and we stayed at an Airbnb which had spectacular city skyline views of Downtown Chicago, was on the 25th floor, and there also was a free bottle of chilled wine! Cheers!

First stop was to grab a drink and bite to eat for lunch.

We headed over to local pub that was right next door to our Airbnb.

After lunch a day trip was made to the Museum Of Science And Industry.

Make sure to head downstairs and see a real life U – 505 Submarine! Which was captured on June 4th, 1944.

From the museum we then Uber’d our way over to the Bean. Chicago’s top thing to see and do.

Walk around the park, take selfies by the bean, and in the winter enjoy people watching ice skating, or rent a pair and have some fun on the ice!

On our Uber ride’s over to the museum, and the to bean, we had asked our driver’s the best spot to enjoy a deep dish pizza. Lou Malnati’s is the place to go! My recommendation: order the Malnati Chicago Classic!

Then head on over to Bulldog Ale House for $5 Happy Hour drinks. The Watermelon Martini is a 10/10.

Chicago is also known for it’s night life scene, and we only had so little time with so many options.

PRYSM is a top Nightclub in Chicago, with DJ’s playing all night and into the early morning.

If clubbing isn’t your thing, make sure to check out Bub City! Live music and it’s infamous Mega Moscow Mule! Definitely worth the price and great for sharing with others.

After a long night of drinking and partying, a great Sunday afternoon activity to do is to walk around the park and check out the Adler Planetarium. Take in a live show of the solar system in their Imax theater (maybe take/enjoy a cat nap from the night before)  and learn all about the history of astronomy.

And there you have it! A fun filled quick weekend getaway to Chicago!
