Ah Adays,

The few days out of the month where I’m “on-call” and scheduling can call me at anytime (like 12:45am), send me anywhere (at 5:00am), and let me hop on/work one flight to layover in this pretty little city called Sioux Falls, South Dakota for 24 hours.

And that exactly is what happened to me, and where I currently am.

Sometimes all you need in life is to enjoy a pretty little city. It’s a nice break from all the hustle and bustle of bigger cities, and gives you the opportunity to find all the little hidden gems these “less popular travel destinations” have to offer. And within 24 hours, I found some hidden gems you should definitely check out the next time you’re here (and when you want to get out of that stuffy hotel room, or need a break from that long family/friend road trip you’re enduring). This city definitely is a great “rest stop.”

With that, here is my:

{ Complete Guide On How To Enjoy 24 Hours In

Sioux Falls, South Dakota }

1.) Start your day off with a morning walk or run to the Falls Park. Here you can take in the views of the infamous falls where this city got it’s name.

My favorite way of exploring a city is going on outdoor runs. I get to know/familiar with what’s around in my area, get to enjoy some fresh air, and also am getting a killer workout in as well. “Killing two birds in one stone!” It’s a win-win. (Weather permitting of course.)

There are a ton of walking/running trails along the Falls, and there even is a cafe you can stop at, enjoy a hot cup of tea or a warm meal when it’s chilly, and take in and enjoy the views of the rapid flowing waters.

On my way back, I took a running path along the riverfront. Again, a great area for you to walk/run around and take in some scenic views.

2.) Enjoy Some Time In The Downtown Area

Downtown Sioux Falls is jam packed with cute little boutiques, coffee shops, restaurants, artwork pieces throughout the city, and is a quaint area to walk around. ( And also reminds me/is identical to Downtown Saint Cloud, MN).

Make Sure To Stop/Shop At:

  • Lot 2029 – One of my favorite Midwest Boutiques! (Also located in North Dakota & Minnesota)

I ended up finding a pair of earrings too!

  • PRIMP – Once you enter the store, you’ll be asked to enjoy a freshly made mimosa while browsing the store and it’s racks. ( And who doesn’t like free mimosa’s!)

Grab A Drink/ Bite To Eat At:

  • Phillips Diner

  • Mama Lada’s – known for their enticing enchiladas!
  • Coffea – An espresso bar featuring work by local artists, and occasional live music. Furry friends are also welcome!

They also have a ” Barista Choice,” which is a surprise drink made by the barista, and is a fun surprise. For those who are adventurous and like trying new things, this option let’s you get to explore and enjoy the menu.

My Barista’s choice today was a vanilla hazelnut latte – which was pretty good!

  • JL Beers – A relaxed hangout burger and beer joint, featuring burgers with creative toppings and an assortment of craft beers. ( Also located throughout the midwest. And a must check out place! One of my all time fave burger and beer joints)

  • Sioux Falls Brewing Company – With a motto of ” Don’t Be A Dope, Drink Your Rope!”

I hope I have given you some good ideas to add to your “To Do/ Check Out List” for this city! And if you have any suggestions or recommendations on what else to do/check out/eat/drink/ hidden gems, please do pop a comment down below and let me know! 🙂
